Terracotta Brown Sugar Saver & Softener Disc
This single terracotta disc is shaped to sit inside a brown sugar container, where the unglazed clay interacts with the air around it. The material is porous, so it takes in and gives off moisture as conditions inside the jar change. That exchange is what helps keep the sugar from hardening into one solid block.
Before first use, the disc is typically soaked in water and then blotted so it is damp rather than dripping. Placed on top of the sugar, it gradually releases that stored moisture into the surrounding granules. Over time it can be re-soaked whenever the sugar begins to feel dry or clumpy again.
The terracotta finish gives the piece a warm, earthy look that suits open countertop jars and pantry shelves. Because it is a single disc, it fits small and medium containers without taking up much room. It can also be used in other tightly closed containers where a little moisture control is useful.
